BIOGRAPHY: Two-year starter who totaled 50/12.5/6 as a junior when he also intercepted one pass and broke up two more. All-Conference selection as a sophomore after numbers of 84/20.5/10.5.
POSITIVES: Large, dominant defensive end coming off a poor season. Fluid moving in all directions of the field, rarely off his feet, and plays with a large degree of suddenness. Moves well for a big man, makes plays down the line, and shows the ability to be used in space during zone blitzes. Gets off the snap with a quick first step, has a burst of speed, and a disruptive force up the field. Holds the point and effective defending the run.
NEGATIVES: Susceptible to being cut-blocked because of his length. At times a non-factor last season and too easily knocked from the action by a single blocker. Marginal speed off the corner.
ANALYSIS: After a monster sophomore campaign, Campbell was a huge disappointment last season. His play was uninspired and at times ineffective. He has all the tools to be a big-time player in the NFL at a variety of defensive line positions. Campbell made a poor choice entering the draft, as his stock has taken a beating. He can still be an impact player at the next level if he gets back on track and improves from where he left off in 2006.
