BIOGRAPHY: Three-year starter who also saw extensive playing time as a true freshman. Suffered a knee injury prior to the 2007 season and was limited to just seven games posting 16/144/3. Junior-year totals included 50/162/11 after 35/476/7 as a sophomore.
POSITIVES: Large possession receiver with solid hands. Uses his frame to shield away defenders, nicely adjusts to the errant throw, and plucks the ball from the air with his soft hands. Works to become an open target, makes the reception in stride, and strong running after the catch with the ability to break tackles and pick up positive yardage. Stays with the action and out-jumps opponents for the high throw. Makes the tough catch with opponents draped on him.
NEGATIVES: Slow releasing into routes, does not have a second gear, and lacks the ability to be a consistent downfield threat. Inconsistent as a blocker and does not get the results he should.
ANALYSIS: After an outstanding junior year, Monk.s play was slowed last year after his knee injury. He will be downgraded on draft boards, yet he has potential at the next level if he improves the details of his game and becomes more consistent.
